About Us

Dave and I have been involved with living history for over 30 years. I have been running History Boxes for over 20 years. Our own 2 children have had a wonderful opportunity to study history with a real hands on approach.

Seeing their enjoyment of this unique learning experience has helped us to develop this service. Our eldest, Helen is currently working as a teacher and of course using the resources.

The running of the hugely successful living history project at Murton Park near York has given Dave a wealth of knowledge and expertise in meeting teacher’s requirements and providing living history education.

In fact the idea for the history boxes was customer led in that teachers were asking for artefacts that they could use in the classroom.

This is fantastic, where did you get all this stuff?

Did You Know?

Glass was rare and expensive in Medieval and Tudor times and only churches or Royal palaces could afford glass windows. Wealthy noblemen and merchants used panes of polished horn which were cheaper and tougher and let in lots of light but were difficult to see through.
